This course is designed for physiotherapy learners, physiotherapy support workers and registered physiotherapists. Safe, person-centred care and optimal utilisation of the workforce depends on effective delegation, supervision and accountability.
On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
- Identify and explain the key principles of delegation, accountability and supervision, including the importance of safe, person-centred care and effective workforce utilisation for registered physiotherapists delegating to support workers.
- Apply delegation principles to differentiate between tasks appropriate for delegation within a physiotherapy context, considering patient safety, task complexity and support worker scope of practice.
- Create a delegation plan for a physiotherapy team that incorporates delegation guidance, defines supervision requirements, clarifies accountability, and includes feedback and consideration of outcomes.
